Translations of the Bible and Their use to readers.

The goal of this blog is to get conversations going about topics that Christians avoid because they are either too controversial they shake our faith or they are otherwise "inconvenient" to talk about.
So to start this blog i want to ask a simple question. "What  translation of the Bible do you read, and why do you read it?"

  1. I personally prefer the NLT Bible translation, because for me it is the easiest to read, without "dumbing" it down. And when you compare it to other versions side by side, the NLT is more clear and makes more sense, and I think its pretty accurate also. So that's just a short reason of what Bible translation I use! :)

  2. I read the Recovery Version of the Bible (used by those in the Lord's Recovery and the Church Life) because it is the most accurate Bible printed. Many would argue otherwise but it is known (though denied by those "many") that the Recovery Version is directly translated from the Hebrew Bible instead of being a revised version of a revised version of a revised version, etc. Also, Witness Lee (who read through the Bible over 50 times a year) put in footnotes and cross-references so that everyone and anyone could read and understand the Bible.

  4. I prefer the New King James, but also like NIV and ESV. I love to memorize Scripture from the King James.
